Carbon black

CB are mainly classified by their particles size.

The smaller the particle is (the higher the specific surface is), the more reinforcing the black is.

  • The trend on the properties on the final compounds are :–Higher stiffness and modulus (higher hardness) when using a more reinforcing carbon black .

–Better tear resistance (up to a certain point) when using a more reinforcing carbon black .

–Higher damping level (higher loss factor) with reinforcing black.

  • For hydromount MRE, mainly a low reinforcing black is used. For the other application a blend of carbon blacks could be used.
